Yi Dai

This series of works, which may appear at first glance as abstract paintings, incorporate a mix of materials including human hair, stockings and translucent paper. Superficially perhaps erotic, for me, they are personal riddles. The juxtaposition of broken stockings and hair creates provocative imagery, whilst the intricate texture formed by the repetitive layering of paper and hair evokes a meditative, almost monastic, state of mind.
